      <image:title>Home - ABOUT</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a business scholar and assistant professor of strategic management in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). I hold a Ph.D. in strategic management from the University of Central Florida, a dual MBA-MS degree from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst), and a BA in economics and management studies from St. Olaf College. My research broadly focuses on the intersection of corporate strategy and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), residing at the forefront of establishing and advancing the portfolio-based view of CSR. My conceptual and empirical work specifically focuses on how CSR initiatives are inter- and intra-temporally connected within CSR portfolios, and how managers orchestrate CSR portfolios to maximize synergies among CSR initiatives for organizational, stakeholder, and societal value creation. Complementing my conceptual and empirical research, I seek to advance methodological approaches in the organization sciences in ways that promote the interdependency of empirical methods and contributions to management theory. My work has been published in globally recognized and leading journals, including the Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, and Organizational Research Methods. To disseminate my research and maximize its impact, I participate often as an expert panelist at industry and academic conferences, present to international audiences of executives and researchers, and deliver guest lectures on how managers can orchestrate portfolios of CSR initiatives. Aside from my research work, I serve as the elected chair of the Communications Committee of the AOM’s SIM division, as well as on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Management. Over the course of my career, I hope to produce rigorous research and serve the business community in ways that help our shared societal systems – from markets, to households, the state, and our earth systems – collectively thrive in balance. I hope that my work can help pave the way for a new era of CSR strategizing, where managers approach CSR with the same level of rigor and precision as their core business investments.</image:caption>
